Final note from the 2010-11 school year

General Information:

Teacher Appreciation Thank You! A big thank you from all of the NCA teachers (and administrators!) who were blessed tremendously by all of the notes, baked items, and other gifts last week. NCA is a wonderful place to teach!

Field Day, May 11. As mentioned earlier, Field Day will be held May 11, weather permitting. If we are unable to hold Field Day on May 11, then it will be cancelled for this year, and May 11 will be a regular school day.

Important! Graduation Attendance Change. Due to community relations concerns surrounding our annual graduation ceremony, beginning this year anyone coming to graduation who does not live at Lapilo Center will be required to present an NCA-produced invitation at the main gate upon arrival. This applies to everyone coming from off-center. Families with children at NCA will automatically be receiving invitations within the next couple of weeks. Others in our mission community who do not have children in our school but would like to attend graduation should contact the NCA high school office as soon as possible. Thank you for your timely cooperation in this matter.

Forms.  School Enrollment/Health Forms for 2011-2012 school year were sent electronically with the April News and Notes.  Please complete them and return them to the school office as soon as possible if you have not yet done so.

Elementary:

Open House.  We hope you can come see your child’s classroom during our Open House on Tuesday, May 31st, at 8:00 a.m.

Final Assembly.  Our last assembly of the school year will be on May 31st, at 8:30 a.m., after the Open House.  This is a special assembly as all of the classes will be sharing something with us and we will hear some testimonies from some 6th grade students.

Grade 6 Promotion.  Toward the end of the assembly the grade 6 students will be promoted.  The grade 6 students will have a reception for their families (only) in the 6th grade classroom following the promotion ceremony.

Last day of school.  June 1st is the last day of this school year.  Elementary students will be dismissed at noon.  On May 31st, students will be released at 1:55 p.m.

Spiritual Goal. Our spiritual goal for this month will be a reminder to “Pray – about anything, anytime, anywhere.”  Our children can be great teachers for adults in this area!

Jr. & Sr. High:

Provincial Tournament. Provincial tournament will be held at NSI on May 13. Grades 9-12 will be dismissed from school that day for tournament.

Furlough families. Furloughing families are advised to check with the high school office before departing to get recommendations for courses while on furlough. Remember that if you are planning on home-schooling high school (Grade 9-12) courses while on furlough you will need to work with an agency that will issue credit on a transcript. A Beka, Hewitt High School, NorthStar, Keystone, and NDIS are all agencies that have been used. More information is available at the high school office.
