General Goals: To teach team dependency and individual skill development through both team sports and class drills.
Goals By Term
Term 1: Three sports divided as equally as possible among track and field events, basketball, and tennis
Term 2: Two major sports (badminton and soccer) in addition to two minor sports (dodge ball and cross country)
Term 3: Three sports divided as equally as possible among fitness, softball, and orienteering
Term 4:
Three lessons on non-stop cricket, ultimate frisbee, and rugby-touch
Nine lessons on volleyball
Three lessons each on soccer review, basketball review, and fun activities
Additional Information:
Rules and theory are taught for each sport and assessments given. In-field participation is judged on skills (20%), attitude (40%), and effort (40%).
General Goals:
- To satisfy the desire for movement and activity
- To improve cardio-vascular efficiency, strength, endurance, and mobility
- To improve general posture and physical presentation
- To give improved skills to the everyday movements, e.g. walking, running, and jumping in terms of efficiency of movement
- To teach the basic skills of gymnastics, athletics, outdoor activities, selected major and minor games and other individual activities as specified by the National Curriculums of the USA, Australia, and the United Kingdom
- To give experience of managing the body in a variety of situations
- To raise levels of aspiration and objective performance to a maximum
- To build up standards of hygiene and personal cleanliness
- To teach the “rules of the game” and obedience to them, to develop a code of behavior in physical activities and to provide an opportunity for leadership, responsibility, and initiative
- To develop a lasting interested in at least one physical activity which may be continued later in life
- To encourage students to be critical of their own performance through observation and analysis, and to be appreciative of the subjective element of skill
- To acquire knowledge of the history, development, and organization of various activities
- To enable particularly gifted students to realize their full potential
- To develop the ability to form good relationships with each other and to form natural associations with the right attitude to the opposite sex
- To provide a challenge to satisfy pupils demand for adventure and excitement
- To provide opportunity for “in depth” study of the subject

Additional Information:
Students must be equipped with the proper, school-directed PE uniform (shirt, shorts, and hat) in order to participate in PE.
