News & Notes: staffing changes

In recent weeks there have been some changes at the school that we wanted to make you aware of. Both the high school principal and vice principal will be heading to the US within the next week or so. Terri and Kyle Sasaki are currently in the US where Kyle is receiving treatments for cancer. Scott, Nathan, and Andrew will be joining Terri and Kyle in the US soon since this treatment will take six months. We look forward to having the Sasaki family back with us for the 2015-2016 school year, Lord willing.

The Appell family was due for a year of home assignment beginning in June, but due to family needs they will be leaving sooner than expected (within a week or two). We look forward to having them back after their time of home assignment.

Gail Posenjak was due for a year of home assignment beginning in June, but due to the health needs of her dad she will be leaving at the end of term 3 (in March). We look forward to having her back after her time of home assignment.

To cover these absences we are making some staff changes:

Dana Bowers will be leaving the 5th grade classroom and taking over as the temporary administrator in the high school, handling the day-to-day operations of the school. Scott will assist with some school matters, as he is able and as needed, while he is in the US.

We had already made plans to combine the 4th and 5th grade classes for terms 3 and 4 of this year. Gail will do most of the teaching during term 3, with Joe Chell teaching the combined Science class and teaching the 5th graders for Math and Reading. During term 4 Joe Chell will be teaching most of the classes with someone else (yet to be determined) teaching 4th grade Math.

We are very grateful for the willingness of so many people to help share the load as we make some changes. We take comfort in the fact that we know Who holds tomorrow and none of this is a surprise to God. Thank you for remembering all these changes in your prayers in the weeks and months ahead.
