News & Notes: March 2015

General Information:

Skate Night: The Junior class will be hosting a skate night on March 7.  They will be opening the doors for skating and food at 5:30.    They will be serving burgers, fries, blizzards, floats, and more!  The theme is “Tour of the World”.  Please join us for a fun time of fellowship!

Transitions: Steve Swope along with Pete & Bree Ammerman from MK Care USA will be leading our Transitions activities during the week of March 2-8.

Tournament Dates: The EHSSSA Provincial Tournament is on Friday, March 13.

Term 4 Start Date: We will be starting Term 4 on Wednesday, April 8.

Looking ahead to next year: These are the term dates for the 2015-2016 school year:

Term 1              July 29 – Sept. 30 (Note: Senior Retreat is tentatively scheduled for July 23-27)

Term 2              Oct. 21 – Dec. 16

Term 3              Jan. 13 – Mar. 16

Term 4              Apr. 6 – June 1

Elementary:

Parents are encouraged to come to a special Elementary Assembly on Wednesday, March 4th, at 7:45am in the Conference Dining Hall. The transition team from the US will be sharing with the elementary students on what it’s like being a Third Culture Kid and how to handle times of transition.

Terra Nova.  Achievement testing will be taking place Monday through Thursday mornings the week of April 13 – 16 for NCA elementary students.  Please help your children by making sure that they have plenty of sleep and a good breakfast each day of the testing.  The 1st through 5th grade elementary students will be testing each morning prior to recess.  If a student has been ill, make-ups will be provided in the late mornings or afternoons.  If you have any questions, e-mail Renee at .

High School:

SAT on May 2. In 2015, NCA will be hosting the SAT college entry exam in May as well as in November. You should register online for the SAT at sat.collegeboard.com. The registration deadline for the May exam is April 4. However, we would recommend you registering well in advance of the deadline. For more information, contact Robyn Green at the high school.

2015-16 Course Selection forms will be distributed to Grade 8-11 students at chapel on March 18. (Note this is only for students attending NCA in 2015-16.) Please read the information on the forms and complete the required information with your child. If you have any questions on course selection, please contact the high school office. We would ask that you return these forms during the first week of Term 4.

Students who will be on home assignment next year will receive a Home Assignment Course Recommendation information document to help with course planning.
