News & Notes: May 2016

General Information:

Reminder: NCA Graduation Attendance. In order to help us facilitate more positive community relations, anyone coming to the NCA graduation ceremony that does not live at Lapilo Center (or its guest facilities) will be required to present an NCA-produced invitation at the main gate upon arrival. This personalized invitation from NCA is not the same thing as the announcements and picture cards produced by individuals in the senior class. This applies to everyone coming from off-center (Sobega, town, etc.). Families with children at NCA will automatically be receiving personalized invitations for each family member within the next couple of weeks. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Forms: School Enrollment/Health Forms for the 2016-2017 school year were sent electronically with the April News and Notes. Please complete them and return them to the school office as soon as possible if you have not yet done so.

Summer staffing: The high school administration will not be in the office for most of June and July. High school principal Robyn Green will be checking and responding to email. High school vice principal Dana Bowers will also be monitoring his email. The high school secretary Jessie Heppner will be in the office and will be monitoring her email. Elementary principal Renee Cox will be at school over the summer and is willing to help you with anything you might need.

 Elementary:

Open House: We hope you can come see your child’s classroom during our Open House on Tuesday, May 31st at 7:45 am.

Final Assembly: Our last assembly of the school year will be on May 31st, at 8:15 am, after the Open House. We look forward to hearing from all the elementary classes at this assembly.

Last Day of School: Wednesday, June 1st, is the last day of this school year. Elementary students will be dismissed at noon. On Tuesday, May 31st, elementary students will be dismissed at 1:55 pm.

Spiritual Goal: Our spiritual goal for this month is “Serve the Lord with Gladness!”

Jr. & Sr. High:

Sports News: The Provincial Tournament games of softball and volleyball will most likely take place at NCA on May 20th. Students will be dismissed from school that day due to the tournament.

Home Assignment Families: Families going on home assignment are advised to check with the high school office before departing to get recommendations for courses while on home assignment. Remember that if you are planning on using homeschool high school (Grade 9-12) courses while on home assignment, you will need to work with an agency that will issue credit on a transcript. ABeka, Hewitt High School, NorthStar, Keystone, NDCDE and University of Nebraska Highschool are all agencies that have been used by families in the past. More information is available at the high school office.
