Missions Week!

NCA is planning its first ever Missions Week for next week, April 3-7. Our vision for this program is to encourage lifelong passion for missions by exposing students to God’s worldwide work. Since most of our students are the children of missionaries, and they are attending a New Tribes Mission school, we realize they already know about missions. However, we want to make a point of teaching them that the world is a big place with many needs, and that God is working through His people in a variety of ways beyond what they have experienced in PNG. This year we have decided to focus on humanitarian missions. There will be a variety of activities scheduled throughout the week in both the high school and elementary school. We will be culminating the week by presenting a missions project for which we will collectively be raising money. Students can give to the project individually, as a class project, or you may give as a family. We will be raising money throughout the month of April. Details of the project to follow, so stay tuned!

Elementary:

Terra Nova.  Achievement tests will be taking place Tuesday through Friday mornings, April 18 – 21, for elementary students.  Please help your children by making sure that they have plenty of sleep and a good breakfast each day of the testing.  The 1st through 6th grade students will be testing each morning prior to recess.  If a student has been ill, make-ups will be provided in the late mornings or afternoons.  If you have any questions, e-mail Renee at .

Course Selection Forms (2017-2018). Course selection forms will be handed out to Grade 8-11 students at chapel on Wednesday, April 26. We hope to provide you with the most accurate information about what classes will be offered at NCA next school year. All students who are enrolling in high school next year should turn in their course selection forms by May 4. If you have questions about how to fill these out, please contact the high school office.

Families going on home assignment during the 2017-2018 school year will get a Course Recommendation form at the same time. Many courses and grade levels are operating A and B years, and we want to make sure you take the correct courses to stay on track with your class. Remember that if you are planning on home schooling high school (Grades 9-12) courses while on furlough you will need to work with an agency that will issue credit on a transcript. A Beka, Hewitt High School, NorthStar, Keystone, and NDCDE are all agencies that have been used in the past. More information is available at the high school office.

Graduation Party Update. The NMT was recently tasked with reviewing the procedures for the annual graduation party. The bulk of the changes are directed at clarifying our procedures. One significant change is to end the party at 3 am. After observing the party for many years, it has become evident that after 3 am, students are simply enduring rather than enjoying the party. It is apparent that this is not good for students’ transitions. Saying goodbye in a state of utter exhaustion at 6 in the morning only makes the goodbyes more painful. We believe this change, along with the other changes made, will serve to make the grad party a more positive experience for our students. We will be sending out a more detailed notice with all the particulars of the grad party a couple of weeks before graduation.

College Testing. The ACT is being offered on April 8 and the SAT is being offered on May 7. Both tests will occur in the HQ Conference Room. Students must have a picture ID and a printed Admission Ticket.
