May 2018 News & Notes

May 26th Celebrations

We will celebrate the school year in many ways on Saturday, May 26th. Come for one part or all parts. (There will be times to leave and enter between each event.) We look forward to celebrating with your family!

**Art Show, 6 pm

Elementary art work will be displayed in the gym. Come and enjoy our students’ creations from art class this school year. You can move through displays at your own pace.

**Elementary Music Performance from the Jungle Book, 6:30 pm

Grade 1-6 students will perform a few songs from the Jungle Book. There will be a percussion band and audience participation!

**High School Awards Night, 7 pm

Celebrate the academic, athletic, and service accomplishments of our grade 7-12 students. We hope to honor their hard work and the examples that they are to each other.

**Yearbook Distribution, 8 pm

The yearbooks are ready though they aren’t in country quite yet! Assuming they get here, we’ll distribute yearbooks at the end of the evening.

Large and X-Large NCA PE shirts are now only $3. They are gray with printed blue letters “Numonohi”. If you would like to purchase some (limit of 50), please email Karen or Christy at or come to the HS office. (If you’ve already purchased them this term, thank you. You’ll be charged the $3 rate!)

Library Reminders

Remember ALL BOOKS checked out this school year are due by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31.  You will get another reminder notice the weekend before the end of school. Any books not returned by this time will be counted as lost and a $10.00 fine will be charged to your account. If you’ve already paid a $5.00 overdue fine, only the balance of $5.00 will be charged for each book not returned.

Book Swap

There will be a book swap table in the elementary library during the last week of school.  Bring in your gently used books to get a ticket to exchange for another book to keep!

Open House

Please plan on visiting your child’s classroom between 7:45 and 8:15 on Wednesday, May 30 to see some of their accomplishments from throughout the school year. This will also be a chance to celebrate individual awards with your student. The elementary library will also be open during this time for you to see projects that students have been working on during library class and on their own.

Our last assembly of the school year will be on Wednesday, May 30, at 8:15 am, after the Open House.  We look forward to hearing from all the elementary classes at this assembly as well as recognizing our grade 6 students.

Library Over the Break

The elementary library will be open during the long break every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00.  Students will need a parent permission slip (provided in your child’s homework folder or available in the library) in order to be able to renew or check books out during the break between grades.  Be on the lookout for special “between grade” reading challenges and activities.  Books checked out with parent permission will be due on the first day of the 2018-2019 school year, August 7.
